Virginia hams have an unmistakable and widely popular flavor. Country ham/Virginia ham is meat taken from the hind leg of a pig and processed using a dry cure. A Virginia ham is generally cured for less than 6 months and may or may not have been smoked. Our Virginia ham is an excellent source of protein and contains a significant amount of the B vitamins that are essential for a good appetite, good mental health and healthy skin.

Cooking your country ham: Our Virginia hams are salt-cured, thus requiring no refrigeration. It is the nature of the Virginia cured hams to be salty even after soaking. In order to enjoy your Virginia country ham to the fullest, you will need to soak the ham in water for 24 to 48 hours, changing the water every 4-6 hours. This will remove a lot of the salt, but the hams will still maintain a salty taste. And if you've never cooked a Virginia country ham before, there are instructions on the back of the cloth package. |
